Girls Teams Set for HS Nationals in Cleveland Area

Columbia Central is looking strong this year.

The Girls High School National Championships lineup of teams is set.

The tournament will be held May 21-22 at Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio, just east of Cleveland. Fourteen teams are set to compete, with a Division I bracket of eight, and a Division 2 bracket of six.

Each D1 team will play two shortened games on Saturday, a quarterfinal and a semifinal (or consolation semi). The D2 teams will be divided into two pools of three with two shortened pool games on the Saturday.

On Sunday, the final placement games will be played.

The teams have not been assigned their divisions yet—that is all based on how the teams do going forward.

However, some of the teams in the list played their rugby in the fall, so it's easier to speculate whether they will be in D1 or D2.

Here are the teams (plus some notes)

Cathollic Memorial, Wisconsin, likely D1 as they are Wisconsin state champions
City Honors, New York,
Columbia Central, Tennessee, 6-0 so far.
Divine Savior Holy Angels, Wisconsin, likely D1 as a very close Wisconsin state runner-up
Eagle, Idaho, currently 5-0 in Idaho
Grandville HS, Michigan, state Runners-up
Hamilton HS, Wisconsin, 2nd in conference in fall behind Catholic Memorial, 11-1 in 7s this spring.
Highland, Ohio, 3-0 start so far
Orchard Park, New York, season really getting going this coming weekend
Penn HS, Indiana, just getting started
Saint Joseph Academy, Ohio, former national champion; 1-1 so far in Ohio
Summit HS, Colorado, won CIRA in the fall so likely D1
Wando Wahines, South Carolina, 4-0 in Carolinas action so far.
Watkins Memorial HS, Ohio, 1-2 start in Ohio
