Florida's HS championship playoffs could be completely different from how the regular season has progressed.

Since nine of the ten teams make the playoffs, it's not really about who started well, but who will finish it. Look at Jacksonville vs Cardinal Gibbons. Gibbons started late and went into this weekend winless. Jacksonville started by winning against an Okapi team that hasn't lost since,

But Gibbons beat Jacksonville 54-0 this weekend. And while Jacksonville was going to be top four win or lose, and the Wolverines were hit with some injuries to some important players, and while Gibbons was going to be in the lower in the standings, this was still a big deal. Jacksonville was not expected to be shut out or to give up 50. Gibbons turned the tables on them.

For Gibbons, Jack O’Keefe, whose dad played the game, was hugely active at openside flanker, getting involved in virtually every play. He scored two tries and carried the ball superbly all day.

Flyhalf Danny Feliciano missed only one kick at goal, which certainly added to the scoresheet, and was effective in open play. Jose Olivier was a workhorse in the forwards.

"It’s his first year but his maturity in the game and willingness to do all the dirty jobs helps us keep possession," said Gibbons Head Coach Eric Aumann.

Now to the playoffs. the top seven get a bye to the quarterfinals and Cardinal Gibbons will play Cape Pirates for the chance to be team #8.

And then it's all starting at 0-0 again.
