The USA Girls HS All Americans defeated British Columbia's U18s 54-24 Friday in the first of two clashes between the games Friday.

The GHSAA, powered by Atavus and playing in their sponsor's back yard in Seattle, opened up the scoring with captain Mata Hingano going over after McKenna Strong set her up. BC replied with a try and then punished a poor clearance kick to take a 12-7 lead. But the HS All Americans replied, with power-running Nia Tolliver out of the ICEF program in Southern California, and Tolliver was gone. 

Strong slotted the conversion to make it 14-12. Prop Finau Tamaviena chased down a kick and picked it up to score and make it 21-12. BC replied, but then Mele Tausinga went over to make it 28-17 at halftime. Strong's kicking was crucial, making every try the maximum seven points.

The second half was pretty much all GHSAA, as Missoula, Mont. product Julia Riekena pushed off a defender and cut through. Wing Sui A'au (Grant, Ore.) raced in and two more from Tolliver finished it off.

It was a very impressive showing by the western HS All Americans powered by Atavus. With some added athletic talent they just bowled the BC team away in the second half.
