Gamebreakers Men DII College Oct 12-13

The long weekend cut back some of the activity in Men’s DII College, and unfortunately a few of those games scheduled were forfeits as some teams struggle for numbers … but …

We also had some key games, especially in the Great Lakes, Great Midwest, Rugby Northeast, and MARC.

Nick Riggs and Zak Carter, Central Michigan

The two CMU forwards set the platform in a convincing 11-try victory over Saginaw Valley State.

David Bailey, UT San Antonio

The UTSA wing scored three tries as the Roadrunners blew by Houston 63-14.

AJ Herrmann, UW-Whitewater (pictured at left)

The Warhawks wing epitomized the ideal of looking for work as he inserted into the line and repeatedly came in to support line-breakers. As a result, Herrmann scored three tries and helped his team to a 58-29 win over Northern Michigan.

Kyle MacPhee, UMass-Lowell

MacPhee scored two of his team's first three tries as they turned a 5-0 deficit into a 19-5 lead, which eventually turned into a 31-10 defeat of Providence.

Finn VaughanKraska, Montana State

The MSU flanker was all over the place as he helped lead the way for a 21-12 victory over Western Colorado.

Josh May, Boston University

May scored a key early try and ran the attack well as the Terriers beat Quinnipiac 26-8 and improved to 3-0.

Tarzan Iam, Grand Valley State

Iam is a former wrestler and uses his skills from that sport to control the point of contact. Not big—he’s barely 150 pounds—he is strong and fearless and knows how to use leverage to make tackles and poach balls. At flanker he was a huge part of GVSU’s win over Calvin College.

Joe Doweiko and Nick Smith, St. Louis University

Doweiko scored two tries as SLU took down Principia 32-12. Smith, the team's scrumhalf, played strong all day and contributed a crucial 12 points with the boot thanks to three conversions and two penalty goals.

Brendon Murphy, Bethel College

Loosehead prop Brendon Murphy controlled the scrum and also took on the lineout throwing duties in a key win over Bethel over Oakland University.
