We're back with Gamebreakers from HS rugby this week.

Key games from North Carolina to Texas to Florida to Virginia to Southern and Northern California and we look at some standout performances throughout:

Asher Hannon, Murrieta Valley

The Murrietta Valley fullback made some key defensive plays to save tries and keep MV in the game as they beat Los Alamitos in the SoCal Varsity White Quarterfinals.

Luke McKernan, Marin Highlanders

The Highlanders wing played a key defensive role and also scored two tries, both on long runs, as Marin defeated Mother Lode.

Jack Wiese, La Jolla

The No. 8 was a powerful attacking weapon as La Jolla won 28-7 over Valley Center in the SoCal Varsity White Quarterfinals.

Joe Bennett, Rock Rugby

While Rock lost 22-21 to Westlake, prop Bennett was a one-man bulldozer, scoring two tries and causing Westlake all kinds of problems all day.

Ryland Swarthout and Alex Anawalt, San Clemente

The center pairing controlled the midfield in the SCIRF game with Mira Costa and sparked their team to a 50-15 win.Kevin Ryan, Servite HS

Ryan scores two tries to help pace Servite over Corona Centennial in the SoCal Varsity White Quarterfinals.

Eddie Van Heerden, Providence Panthers

Playing some smart rugby in the breakdown and on defense, Van Heerden (pictured at left) helped keep the Panthers undefeated in North Carolina with a win over Myers Park.

Cooper McMullin, San Marcos

The Southern California SCIRF Gold Division final was San Marcos against Steele Canyon, and No. 8 and captain McMullin helped San Marcos cap off an undefeated season, playing superbly with ball in hand and on defense.

Jean Luke, Jacksonville Wolverines

Jacksonville rebounded from a rough start to the season and won well over a shorthanded Orlando team. Playing No. 8, Luke was powerful and athletic on attack and scored two tries.

Luke Traina, Allen Eagles

With an impressive 34-17 defeat of Westlake, Allen has thrust itself into the conversation in the Rugby Texas. Traina was very effective at fullback.
