Furman to Host 7s Tournament to Kick Off Season
The Southern Rugby Conference is kicking off its spring 7s season early with the Furman University Invitational.
This is actually more of a warmup for teams not just in the Southern, but in the SCRC as well. DII teams Furman (who will field two teams), The Citadel, Lander, and North Carolina Chapel Hill will compete with DIAA teams Kentucky, South Carolina, and Georgia. All teams will mix together regardless of division.
For all of these teams this is the first step into what will be a long 7s season with plenty of questions to answer. To that point, it's difficutl to say who might have the edge in this list. All teams will play five games on the day—three pool games, a Cup or Bowl semifinal, and then either a Cup, Plate, Bowl, or Shielf final.
