Fort Wayne Club Seeks Head Coach

Fort Wayne is in Indiana but plays in Michigan and Ohio.

The Fort Wayne (Ind.) Rugby Football Club is looking for a head coach.

Established in 1969 the Fort Wayne Rugby Football Club has enjoyed 52 years of matches, socials and brotherhood with its members and friends that have been made along the way. The club is now looking for a head coach for the 2022 spring season. The club has, in recent years, been able to field two sides and has a strong relationship with its old boys that has led to the establishment of high school teams in the area.

For Wayne competes in D3 in Michigan and D4 in Ohio and has over 80 registered players. 

Head Coach Role Summary

  • Develop and implement successful coaching strategies for all practices and games
  • Establish rapport and communication with team members to include providing individual developmental feedback
  • Attend, and travel to, all matches
  • Work with Executive Committee in identifying and executing club initiatives
  • Establish rapport and communication with the Black and Blue Society/old boys, Auxiliary, and club supporters
  • Attend and aid in club-related fundraising
  • Administrative duties do not fall under this position as the club has a well-established Executive Committee.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Previous experience coaching
  • Coaching for full team development and game strategy
  • Current USA Rugby Level 200 Coaching Certification


  • Networking for employment and housing
  • Potential negotiable stipend dependent upon applicant and approval by the Executive Committee
