Flores Added to Life Camp

Marietta, Ga. – The Life U Women’s Rugby Camp will be bolstered by the addition of a special coach this summer.  Kathy Flores, a pioneer in rugby coaching will be one of the featured instructors, adding to the world-class staff.

The burgeoning reputation of women’s rugby in the United States is attributable to Flores. A full list of her many accomplishments is available at the Brown University website: BrownWomensRugby.com.  Her influence on women’s rugby programs around the country is analogous to what Pat Summit is to women’s basketball or to what Pop Warner is to American football.  She will be on the staff at the Life U Women’s Rugby Camp, teaching and coaching high school rugby players who are looking to advance their skills and play at the next level.

“Having someone of Kathy’s stature at our camp this summer is going to be amazing for the campers and our coaching staff,” said Rosalind Chou, Life U Women’s head coach.  “Having high school rugby players learn skills and tactics from her is something very few people get an opportunity to do.  And our coaching staff is also excited to learn from her.”

Life U’s collegiate women’s team turned many heads in its first year, advancing to the spring final four, and ending the season as a consensus top-five program.  Many of the players from this first team were identified at last year’s summer camp.  “Life U is committed to not only growing women’s rugby in this country, but also to developing players within the USA Rugby system to compete at the collegiate level and beyond,” said Chou.  “Kathy Flores is the gold standard in that regard.”

Flores is excited about being part of the Life U Rugby camp, saying, “Though I’ve worked in the many different levels of rugby from high school to national teams, I always find the camp atmosphere exciting and fun.  It’s amazing to see the development of young players in just a matter of days when they have the opportunity to be exposed to consistent coaching and competition.  I’m pleased to be invited to participate at this year’s Life U camp, and look forward to meeting and working with all the participants!”

The Girls High School Rugby Camp at Life U will take place July 7-10, 2015 on the campus in Marietta, GA.  It is open to girls from rising 8th grade through graduating seniors.  For more information and to register, go to LifeRunningEagles.com.
