The Wisconsin Iowa Illinois rugby conference opens its doors once more in a month with September 10 seeing the first of the conference’s games.
The Men’s DII College conference underwent some changes last year, adding Lindenwood-Belleville and Northern Iowa to its numbers. There are changes again this year. Lindenwood-Belleville, which finished 2nd in the conference playoffs last year, has moved on to play an independent DIAA schedule.
The Northern Division remains unchanged, as favorites Wisconsin-Whitewater (national runners-up in the fall of 2015) rejoin Northern Michigan, UW-Lacrosse, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Stout, UW-Platteville, and Marquette.
The Southern Division loses Lindenwood-Belleville, and also loses Northwestern, while Illinois Wesleyan joins to make it a six-team division.
Northern Iowa, which finished a very close 2nd in the WIIL South, and went on into the national playoffs, is probably the favored team in the South.
