Expanded National 7s Youth Championships Back for Third Year

Tribe won the Boys Tier 1 in 2022.

The National 7s Youth Championships will return for its third year June 9-11, 2023 in an expanded form.

Held in Cleveland, Ohio, the tournament has, in its first two years, seen top U15 7s teams facing off over two days.

In 2022 Belmont Shore took the Girls Championship, while Tribe Rugby took the Boys Championship. The Tier II Boys was won by the Celina Legion.

Surprises Throughout National Youth 7s Finals Day

The tournament is changing for 2023 with two age divisions, one at the U14 level and one at the U16 level. There will still be a Tier 2 Boys in Under 14, as well as a Tier 1 Boys and Tier 1 Girls. All players have to be born on or after September 1, 2008. And there is also a U16 division with Boys Tier 1 and Girls Tier 1. All players have to be born on or after September 1, 2006.

Pool Play will be held June 9 to June 10, and the championship bracket will be on Sunday, June 11.

All teams will play five games.

This is a remarkable tournament that was found success after being invented out of whole cloth by Patrick Rahill and his staff. The event has been hosted at St. Ignatius HS in Cleveland, offering three fields for the tournament and excellent support from the host school as well as the Ohio Referees Society and the 1964 Foundation.
