D1A Season Suspended Until April 5

D1A Rugby has announced that it will suspend play through the end of March.

Here is the statement released by the D1A Executive Committee:

The rapid spread of the Coronavirus is causing cancellations and postponements of sporting events around the globe. After consultation with our D1A Executive Committee and USA Rugby, we are suspending the men's Division IA regular season until April 5th due to concerns about the spread of the novel coronavirus. This decision is based on the evolving Covid-19 public health threat, and our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic. An additional statement will be made in early April when the status of the virus and the disruptions to our wellbeing are hopefully clearer than they are now.

We have determined that the decision to suspend our season is in the best interest of our student-athletes, fans, officials and community. We will closely monitor the situation and will communicate when and how rugby will start back up when it is safe and appropriate.
