In the Goff Rugby Report rankings that includes some of the NCR teams, this has been a tough time. Several Liberty teams produced wins but ended up dropping down, mainly because they beat other Liberty teams in very close games. Meanwhile, a few teams outside of that competition made big strides (Baylor, Michigan State, Utah Valley) and thus just pushed everyone down a spot or two.
Utah Valley for sure makes the biggest jump despite losing, because it was a very close loss to a good team, Colorado State, that had beaten Colorado, who had, in turn, beaten Grand Canyon. (UCLA beat Colorado, and are now #10 based on that result.)
But Baylor, Texas A&M, and St. Bonaventure all move up massively thanks to wins over ranked teams. For Baylor, it was a case of wait and see, and then they beat, handily, a team that had beaten Oklahoma handily the week before. St. Bonaventure beat Penn State.
Is Indiana the best true club team in the country? They very well could be. But remember, Ohio State lost to IU by two points. Key, however, is that Indiana beat top Liberty team Iona. What that does is elevate the Big 10 as a whole, especially Ohio State and Michigan State (lost to IU only 10-0), compared to Liberty teams.
