D1 Games: Playoffs for Big Rivers, Liberty, Statement Games in D1A

Big Rivers semis are this weekend.

Navy has ruled the roost in the Rugby East, but Notre Dame College continues to come on strong.

Well now is the time for NDC to show how far they've come, whether they have turned the corner on dumb penalties, and whether they can really start to make scoring chances pay off. The Falcons play Navy this week and St. Bonaventure next week. Huge games for all concerned, but especially for NDC and Bonnies as they look at NCR playoff spots.

Will Rugby East get a third playoff bid this year? Kutztown beating Penn State and/or Queens beating Mount St. Mary's will help.

Life travels to the chilly climes of West Point in a much-anticipated meeting.

The Midwest D1A really gets moving with McKendree at Davenport and Lindenwood at Adrian.

Texas A&M at Arkansas State is the start of a challenging four--week run for ASU.

Can Colorado State make a splash in Provo against BYU?

NCR Conference Playoffs

Liberty has their semis with AIC at Brown and Iona at Siena. Siena has played, and beaten, Iona, but AIC and Brown have not met but it is worth pointing out that AIC lost to Dartmouth while Brown beat them.

"We've been doing our homework on them and know there are some challenges we'll be faced with," said Brown Head Coach David LaFlamme. " Our preparation this week has been centered around their strengths.  We've identified what they do well and what we need to do to keep their game under control.  They have a good mix of some backs and forwards with some dynamite footballers. Last week, we started to fit some of the pieces back into the puzzle.  While we still under-performed in certain areas, a few of the boys stepped up such as freshmen Tito Edjua and Theo Romero.  Our scrum and lineout were working well.  This is an area [where] we hope to apply pressure to AIC."

Brown is looking to add to their offense, too.

Big Rivers also has its semifinals. We'll be at one of them, which is Marian at Wheeling. Thomas More hopes to keep their late resurgence surging with a meeting at Principia. This would be a clash of the last two D2 champions.
