D1 Elite Semis Today

Lindenwood and Life tussled in November. Might they meet again in the final April 30? Todd Lunow photo.

The D1A playoffs start this weekend with the four teams in that division playing semifinals Saturday and the final on CRAA Finals Weekend on April 30.

Lindenwood faces Penn State in St. Charles, Mo. Lindenwood is 11-0 and has logged impressive wins over women's clubs Life West, Chicago North Shore, Chicago Lions, Colorado Gray Wolves, and the St. Louis Sabres.

"They have shown continual improvement over the last few matches and the foot is on the gas now," said Lindenwood Head Coach Billy Nicholas. "Coming away with a win against some fantastic senior club sides the past few weeks is no easy feat. They all enjoy the challenge and we are excited to host the upcoming semifinal at home at Lindenwood. It will be a special opportunity for us."

It's been a less busy spring for Penn State, with losses to Navy and the New York Rugby Club, and a win over UC Santa Barbara. But they followed that up with an impressive showing against Notre Dame College, 55-0, and a win over the Pittsburgh Forge, too.

Lindenwood seems like a bit of a juggernaut at the moment.

Life University hosts Central Washington (2PM ET Watch Here). Like everyone else Life has been getting games with club teams, beating Charlotte, Raleigh, Atlanta, and Detroit. But they have also played collegiate opposition including Florida champs Central Florida, a team they beat 85-0.

The Running Eagles' last loss was 34-5 to Lindenwood in November.

So is Central Washington the underdog? Maybe, and that idea might be bolstered by a loss to BYU 18-14 on March 26. Now, one might argue it just means CWU has some experience in tough games and will be the stronger for it. But worse for the Wildcats is the fact that the loss to BYU was their only game in the last month. Two games with Canadian opposition were canceled, so CWU will have to prepare as best they can without games.
