Cardinals, Jacksonville Lead Florida Invitational
The Charlotte Cardinals won the Florida Invitational Rugby Showcase, beating Jacksonville in the final.
The Cardinals ran out an A side and a B side and on Saturday—the Cardinals A side beat the Jaguares 17-7 and Wando 24-0, while the B Side beat the Eastside Lions 17-14 and lost 12-3 to Jacksonville.
Jacksonville did well also beating Clayton 27-7 and the Eastside Lions 10-6.
It was a strong outing for a Jacksonville after a rough season in the Florida U19 league.
The Wolverines U16s beat the Charlotte Cardinals 27-14 and lost to the Jaguares 8-0.
On Sunday, Charlotte and Jacksonville met in the championship game, and the Cardinals edged Jacksonville 17-14.
Hooker Holden Hahn was a powerful presence for the Cardinals al weekend with his strong runs and his tough defense. He scored a try in the final. Flyhalf Zach Colson and fullback Koen Webb were instrumental in running the Cardinals' attack.
