Boys School HS Rugby Rankings Week 1

Photo Tonia McPeak.

We're back with what is essentially a preseason Boys HS Single-School ranking for just about everyone.

While we have seen some results, a lot of what we're ranking is based on what happened last year (plus how much any success was due to a group of players that graduated) and a little on the fall and whether we think the fall 7s is an indication of future 15s success (sometimes).

We'd like to see the single-school teams in the Austin, Texas area get themselves back to the level they enjoyed about five years ago. We think there will be other teams that will rise to the fore, and others that are ranked based on really one or two strong years to slip. We haven't ranked any Rugby Oregon teams yet because we really haven't seen these teams at all since 2019. We need someone to perform, and ideally someone to play someone outside their state.

The SoCal single-school season is underway but we're waiting maybe one more week to see who exactly comes forward from that group. San Clemente beat Torrey Pines January 8 in what was billed as a non-league game. The league game is this Friday between those two, so we will pay close attention to that.

So here it is, our first shot, with comments on all the top 25, plus a few lower down.
