Boys 2021 School HS Rankings Week 1

Strake Jesuit starts the season at #3. Photo Tari Tari.

After almost a year with no HS rankings, we're back!

Now, as you can imagine, this is very difficult to do. Normally at this time of the year we would be ranking teams that hadn't played and possibly wouldn't play for quite some time. This is possible (usually) because we KNOW those teams are good every year, we KNOW they will play at some point, and we've checked in to see how they are reloading.

But this year, some teams may not play a season, at least not a season we can recognize. Some won't play until much later in the season and we don't know how their numbers are affected.

So ... we are ranking only two sorts of teams—teams who are playing right now, and teams we are fairly confident will play very soon.

Within those two groups we give greater rankings value to teams that have actually played games. We also give greater value to teams that are slated to play soon, as opposed to those slated to play in April or later.

And a team "hoping" to play in April isn't ranked as highly as a team almost assured to play in May.

So where's Gonzaga? Waiting for the OK to play games. Where's Xavier? Same deal. Why is Dallas Jesuit #1? Because they played two good teams and beat them. Simple as that.

(Aaand ... there you go. We had Fishers listed but that was based on bad information. So we changed it.)
