Beloved Referee Dies After Match

Longtime and very well-liked Northern California referee Scott Wood died Saturday after refereeing a game.

Wood was driving home from a high school match that he had refereed. He was stopped at a stop light when he suffered a heart attack and died. Wood was active in the Northern California Referees Society and was a referee educator as well as a well-respected official on the field.

He leaves behind his wife Danielle and a seven-year-old daughter.

A gofundme has been established for his daughter's college fund.
