Atlantis Rugby Corporation is holding a camp for high school boys and girls with an eye toward identifying players to play in the Atavus RugbyTown 7s in Glendale, Colo., and also participate in trips to Cuba and Las Vegas.

The camp is open to U19 girls players, U19 boys players, and U16 boys and girls players, and is hosted by the Surfside Sevens and Atlantis Rugby on Friday, July 17 from 12-5pm.

The camp will be at the Stone Harbor Recreation Fields in Stone Harbor, NJ.

On July 18-19, rugby after the camp, the Surfisde 7s holds the American High School 7s Championships at the same venue.

The cost of the camp is $35 per player, or $350 for a team of ten to 15 players.

Please contact Stephen Siano at 610-389-4474 or info@surfsidesevens.com for information about team discounts.

The camp will be run by a team of top coaches, headed by Atlantis founder and former USA Eagles men's and women's head coach, and USA Rugby Hall of Fame member Emil Signes.

It was Signes who took an Atlantis men’s team to the country of his [mother's] birth, Cuba, in 2000, a team that included six capped players and two future USA 7s National Team coaches.

Signes is widely considered to be the father of American 7s, and is credited with helping get 7s into the Olympics but championing women’s international 7s and a Women’s 7s World Cup, which were instrumental in getting yes votes from the International Olympic Committee in 2009.

Players will be tested on various athletic and fitness metrics, as well as basic 7s skills, and then educated on those skills in order to improve.

The goal is to help fill out an Atlantis U19 boys team to go to Glendale in August under Jack Foley and Rob Skalka. Then, in November the Atlantis U19 Girls and U19 Boys will tour Cuba. In March, 2015, Atlantis will once again field a large contingent at the Las Vegas Invitational, including U16 Girls, U16 Boys, U19 Girls, and U19 Boys.
