WEST POINT, NY – West Point men's rugby player David Huff was named Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for his two-try performance in Army's 46-36 defeat of Penn State this past weekend.

Huff leads the team with 18 tries since the West Point rugby team started varsity operations in the fall of 2014.

In the 69th minute of action, with Penn State attempting to mount a comeback and the Army lead at just 10, Huff scored his first of the evening with a burst of speed down the far side of the field. He would find the try zone again in the 77th minute, dotting down to put the game out of reach for the Nittany Lions.

The win was the fourth consecutive victory to open the season for the Black Knights, who now sit in sole possession of first place in the Rugby East. Army has captured 10 straight wins over Rugby East opponents, dating back to the start of the 2014-15 season in which it captured the conference title.

On the year, Huff has posted three tries in three matches, earning his first of the season in the 35-23 win over Wheeling Jesuit before his two-score performance at Penn State.

Huff is in his second year at West Point. He is a graduate of the National Guard Patriot Academy, and was born in Anchorage, Alaska, where he grew up and attended the Alaska Military Youth Academy.
