Army West Point is right in the middle of the Rugby East conversation after a 32-7 defeat of Mary Washington on the road.

The Black Knights are officially 1-1 in Rugby East. They did beat Southern Virginia but SVU is on a development track this year, so it's really a six-team conference this year. At 1-1 Army joins Mount St. Mary's, and those teams play in three weeks.

Howie Heller led Army with two tries while John Hartford, George Engels, Gabe Savage, and Dakota Wagner also touched down.

"I thought we did a good job controlling territory and we asserted dominance in both the set piece and the gainline," said Army Head Coach Matt Sherman, whose Black Knights are 4-1 overall with just a loss to Life.

"With all of that said we need to be better at converting the ample opportunities we created into points. That's an area we'll target for improvement."

With Navy's win over Life, the Rugby East standings looks at follows:

Rugby East W L T PA PA PD BT BL Pts
Navy 3 0 0 153 43 110 3 0 15
Life 2 1 0 108 50 58 2 0 10
Army 1 1 0 39 42 -3 1 0 5
Mount St. Mary's 1 1 0 52 79 -27 1 0 5
Penn State 0 1 0 14 52 -38 0 0 0
Mary Washington 0 3 0 30 130 -100 0 0 0

Next up an improving Penn State plays Mount St. Mary's in a game that could have clear rankings and even playoff seedings influence. Life plays a non-standings game with Southern Virginia. A week later, UMW plays Penn State and SVU plays Mount before two hugely important weeks.
