The Air Force Academy won the Rocky Mountain 7s, jetting by everyone they played as the Zoomies went 5-0 and outscored opponents 223-27.

"We had to scrape off a bit of rust in the early going," said Air Force Coach Joe Muehlbauer. "We'd just come from playing 15s. But once we got going, we did well. Our defense was very good all day, and we did a good job of building possession."

Ben Bermester, Garrett Jameson, and Victor Wu were central to the Air Force effort, as they beat Regis 58-0 and New Mexico 62-0 in the first two games. Then came Grand Canyon, which the Zoomies dispatched 35-12, and the final pool game against a physical Denver team, which Air Force won 28-5.

Meanwhile, Colorado State was going 4-0 in Pool B. The Rams beat Colorado College, Air Force Bs (subbing in for a late pullout), Colorado, and Wyoming.

That set up the final, which Air Force won 50-10.

The victory qualifies Air Force for the USA Rugby Men's College 7s Championships, but Air Force is already slated to go to the CRC in Chester, Pa. Since USA Rugby's event is being held in Denver, it's probable Air Force will enter a team in both tournaments, but not, at this point, guaranteed.
