The Boys HS Rugby National Championships list of teams has been confirmed.

For more on this, go here.

The teams are, as always, being selected by a panel of coaches. Those coaches look at the applicants' ability to show up, pay for travel, and compete.

There are strong clubs and school teams that don't attend. Some of them don't because the timing of the season is too difficult - cold-weather leagues can run into June.

Some don't attend because they're not sure if they can compete this year ... that's an important issue that the application process addresses. A team might be really good this year, but not so strong the next year. Long-term success (not just by appearing at nationals, but by winning state or major competitions) is needed.

At the same time, it's good to see new faces. the Eastside Lions brings Washington state teams back to the fold after a long absence. The Irvine Rhinos are an up-and-coming program out of Southern California, and Wando is a longtime power out of South Carolina.

Still, the same few teams seem to be making the final, especially on the Single-School side.
