You know you've been waiting for this.

This is the final rankings before the National Championships, and before several state playoffs. The rankings will continue past the NIT, of course, because we've got several leagues still playing. So here's what happened. St. Edward went to #1 last week on the basis of one game, a very close (and some would say a bit controversial) win over #1 Gonzaga. Logic dictated St. Ed's goes to #1 and they did. But then St. Ed's lost in the Midwest championships. Now, that loss was only 10-7 in a shortened game, but the teams are all so very close now. Penn hammered the team that beat St. Edward, Notre Dame de La Salette. What to do? St. Edward moves down. Notre Dame moves up a little, but we need to see more. Penn moves up, and in the end we've got to put them at #1, for now.

Jesuit of Sacramento moves up despite not playing. How is that? Because the team they lost to, Danville, crushed all before them at the Pacific Cup. This bolstered our already high opinion of the NorCal Varsity Premier, and mitigates some of the weight of such a loss for Jesuit. So St. Edward, which was #1, slips to #4. No matter - not to worry - the top four, plus #6, #8, and #9 are in the BHSRNC. We'll get it all sorted out.

Kahuku slides a bit after doing well at the Pacific Cup but not exceedingly well. Fishers, which plays in the Midwest club bracket but we have listed as a single school based on a bunch of factors we don't feel like going into here, move up markedly after a very good Midwest tournament. Neuqua drops out after losing 24-0 to New Trier, who have lost twice, so we don't know what the heck's going on there. No one is dominating in the Illinois Catholic League, either, so we wait there.

And finally, we had the Pennsylvania teams all wrong. Playoffs told us what's what, and Pennsylvania teams jump in.
