2016 Boys Single-School Rankings #12
And so you were waiting for this one, weren't you. This single-school rankings after the #5 (and recently #2) St. Edward defeated #1 Gonzaga. Would we depose Gonzaga? Would St. Ed's get #1?
Yes, and yes. We also toyed with the idea of moving Penn up to #3 after an almost-win v. Royal Irish. But, given the fact the Midwest playoffs are coming, we decided to hold off. And anyway, moving someone from, say, 40 to 30 because of a close loss to a very good team is easy enough, moving up to #3 for the same reason isn't easy at all.
Other big moves - Regis Jesuit races up to #14. Notre Dame de La Salette beats Brownsburg and moves up 22 spots. Edina has started winning and they move up. We also dropped a few teams out. #60 Belmont High lots, so they drop out. The other #60 won, but only 3-0 against a DII team in Massachusetts, so Lincoln-Sudbury is out. Unionville lost to #59, and they're out, while #59 Archmere drops to #60 because they've missed too many league games for us to feel good about moving the Auks too far up. West Allegheny (#57) also lost, and Fairfield Prep won a game but lost another and looking at all of the results in Connecticut, we decided to drop them.
Coming in are Fishers out of Indiana (undefeated in their league), Moon Area (beat West Allegheny and are undefeated), Ridgefield (tough one as they beat Fairfield Prep but lost to Staples who lost to FP ... ), and St. John's Prep (beat Belmont High).
And finally, we're impressed with Prince Williams win over pretty darned good West End team, and they jump in at #39.
