2015 Boys Single-School Rankings Week 14

What a wild weekend in the single-school games. #2 Penn lost ... twice. #3 Jesuit was supposed to play Multi-School #3 Granite Bay, but that didn't happen. St. Edward upset three ranked teams to win the Midwest. A ranked team - Brother Rice - struggled to even score points in the Midwest tournament.

Back Bay and Los Angeles played so well in the SoCal club league that the single-school teams that fed them, specifically Mira Costa, got a bump. Thomas Aquinas beat multi-school club #6 in a bit of an upset. Playoffs switched things around. It was wild.

The upshot of all the action is this: Penn has to move down, and they do. They lost to St. Edward, so it's clear St. Edward moves up ... a lot. We put them at #7. But in a tournament of shortened games, and especially when to take into account the fact that we are a little wary of 3rd-4th matches, should Penn drop below St. Ignatius and/or Brownsburg? In the end, we leave Penn a little ahead of those teams. Why? Because we'd prefer to judge teams on full-length games, and since St. Ignatius and St. Edward are due to play on Wednesday, maybe that's a better judge of those two squads. Meanwhile, we know Penn rested some players with injuries against Brownsburg in the Midwest 3rd/4th game. So the result, a Brownsburg win, moves Brownsburg up, and Penn down, but not as much as you might think. Penn and Brownsburg play on Saturday, so we'll see what's what in a 70-minute game there.

Pulaski moves into the top 50 thanks to their performance in the Midwest tournament. East HS out of Utah moves up after beating Highland. Brother Rice and Greenville HS drop out after losses.
