Playoff ramifications are already on some teams’ minds as we enter the meat of the Men’s DII college season.

Leagues have about 50 games going on this week, about 100 teams in action, and a huge percentage of these teams are thinking they are in a position to make a conference playoff, or better.

But some matchups are more equal than others. Here's a look at some:

Great Midwest

If Northern Iowa is serious, then UNI has to beat a pretty strong Loyola-Chicago this weekend. Illinois State, like UNI 3-0 in the Great Midwest South, has an important date with 1-1 DePaul.

Great MW: UNI Winning, Platteville Surging

In the North, UW-Milwaukee has an important game if they want to stay in the top four. Marquette is 2-1 and in good shape for the playoffs. At 1-1, Milwaukee could overtake Marquette and leave Northern Michigan further behind.

Northern Lights

This is all about St. Thomas and North Dakota State. Both are playing well and both have competitive opponents in MSU Mankato and Winona State.

MARC

Plenty to play for here and while there's no head-turning matchup this weekend, every team is still in it.

Southern

Southern Conference Latest: All Tightening Up

We don't have a lot of games here, but in the Challenge League Lander (3-0) takes on 2-1 Wake Forest.

Cardinals

We're curious to see how Southern Virginia, the new varsity program, will show.

Early Impressions From NEWCRC

Vermont vs Quinnipiac is a big one, because Quinnipiac can make a statement with a victory.

Rugby Northeast

This is a tight conference anyway, but Bentley and UMass-Lowell is the game to wonder about. Both teams are 2-0 and could take control of the league with a win.

Who Is In The Hunt In Rugby Northeast?

Rocky Mountain

We talked about the surprise from Colorado Mesa  Colorado Mesa Shakes Up Rocky Mountain Conference  but it's still Northern Colorado and Montana State at the top. UNC plays winless Idaho State.

Great Lakes

The top two teams, Grand Valley State, and Bethel, meet up, and that's likely to decide who's the top dog in the conference.

Gateway

UMS&T and Pitt State lead the Western Division with two wins each, and they face off this weekend, so watch that one. Southern Illinois leads the Eastern, with SLU right behind.

Tri-State

All six teams make the playoffs so whatever, except the top two get a bye to the semis, and that's important. Kings Point's win over RPI last week was very important in that regard. Now, 2-0 Kings Point plays William Paterson this weekend. The winner likely has a bye sewn up. The loser will still have to worry about the winner of RPI and Marist this weekend.
