Youth Olympic Games to be Broadcast Live

Submitted by IRB.com

Every try, tackle and pass from the men’s and women’s Rugby Sevens events at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games will be available live and on demand at Olympic.tv.

A portfolio of international broadcasters will also televise the action around the globe as Rugby returns to the Olympic arena after 90 years.

The event for under 18 players is anticipated to be highly competitive and will see 144 young players representing six men’s and six women’s nations going for gold.

The four-day competition schedule will feature seven morning and afternoon sessions. The pool play sessions from August 17-August 19 will see the morning sessions run between 0900 and 1200 (local time). The afternoon sessions in pool play will start at 1600 and finish at 1900. The positional play-offs, including medal semi-finals will be run from 1530-1900 on August 19. The Bronze and Silver medal matches will be played between 0900 and 1100 on August 20 with the women’s Gold Medal match kicking-off at 1000 and the men’s Gold Medal match at 1030.

The squads have also been finalised for the event and can be viewed at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games website.

IRB President Bernard Lapasset said: "We are honoured and excited about our Youth Olympic Games debut and I am sure that Rugby Sevens’ winning blend of highly-competitive action and carnival atmosphere will be a hit with fans in the stadium and around the world."
