Brown Women Unbeaten in Ivies

Brown University are once again the top women's team in the Ivy League, moving to 5-0 and clinching first with a 55-14 defeat of Princeton Saturday.

That sets them up for the top seed going into the Ivy Championships Nov 1-2.

Brown got on the board with a nice fake play from Sofia Rudin who then offloaded to Kiki Morgan for a try up the middle. Midway through the first half, the formidable Brown pack shoved Princeton over the tryline in a demonstration of powerful scrummaging. Lauren Oxendine got the touchdown. Rudin converted both tries for a 14-0 lead.

It was soon 19-0 when Daisy Alvarado-Munoz turned over Princeton ball and Morgan set up Jasmine McAdams for the try.

And then it was 24-0 when Morgan went 80 meters. Princeton scored just before halftime.

In the second half Oksana Goretaya, Oxendine (another eight-player shove), Elisha Miles, Morgan, and May Siu all scored to finish off the game.

In their five Ivy League victories, Brown has scored 299 points (just under 60 per game) and allowed 51 (just over ten per game).

Amber Reano for a run down the sideline and score at 27:34 leaving it at 19-0.

At 38:09 with sustained pressure, Princeton drove downfield and in the attacking 22m until a knock-on and loss of possession saw the recovery by Morgan who ran 80 yards to score in the right corner for a score of 24-0. In the waning minutes of the first half, Princeton managed to score on a strong run by the outside center who crashed through and evaded several tackles to score in the middle of the posts. The conversion saw the half time score of Brown 24 – Princeton 7

Second half the Bears came out with renewed fire and at 46:47 forced a turnover in the scrum that went from Oxendine to SH Amber Reano ’16 who fed her two centers for the score from Goretaya under the posts. Rudin’s conversion made it 31-7. At 58:41 Oxendine again scored from a scrum walk over to be converted: 38-7. With Brown continuing their dominance at the breakdown inside the attacking 22m, SH Reano slips around the fringe to feed Elisha Miles ’15 for the score. Conversion sees the score at 45-7. Two more scores from Morgan and May Siu ’15 respectively sees 10 more points for Brown and a last minute score and conversion from Princeton leaves the final at 55-14.
