SCRC Latest - LSU 2-0

Tennessee won a big victory Saturday as they beat rivals Florida 45-17 to start their Southeastern Collegiate Rugby Conference (SCRC) season 1-0.

Also winning in the SCRC East was Kentucky, which took down Vanderbilt 27-8.

Meanwhile, in the West, Auburn was very surprising in hammering Ole Miss 74-10 to move to 1-1. But everyone is chasing LSU, which moved to 2-0 with a 27-5 defeat of previously 1-0 Mississippi State.

LSU won their set pieces without too much problem, but squandered such a nice platform with far too many knock-ons. Regardless, the possession was too much for the Bulldogs, as Todd Dupre, Cameron Falcon, Aidan Elias, and Brennan Falcon all scored tries.

“We gradated some good players, although it was good to have Cameron Falcon come back to play with his brother,” said LSU Head Coach Bob Causey. “We got some really good freshmen in and we’ve been able to reload pretty well. We’ve got a good team.”

Among those who have shown well this early in the fall is freshman flyhalf Cameron Troxler, a recent graduate of Shaw HS who has impressed with his distribution skills and his willingness to mix it up in the rucks.
