NSCRO Update Around the Country

Here's a rundown of some of the NSCRO action this weekend:

St. John’s University out of Minnesota, the defending National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) champions, are champions of Minnesota once again as they cut a swatch through the state this fall.

SJU defeated Carleton 67-5 Saturday in the Minnesota Men’s NSCRO semis, and then University of St. Thomas 59-22 in the final. Over the course of six league and playoff games, St. John’s has averaged 94 points scored, and 14 points against.

In the Cardinal Conference NSCRO league, Duke remains on top at 6-0 after winning by forfeit over JMU’s development team. In 2nd place is Lord Fairfax CC, which edged Washington & Lee 15-12 to go to 5-1.

In New England, Wesleyan edged Trinity 15-14 to clinch 2nd in the NSCRO Connecticut league with a 4-1 record. Eastern Connecticut State has clinched 1st.

In Maine Bowdoin defeated Maine-Orono 66-0 and that bonus point ensured they would finish ahead of idle Maine-Farmington. Both finished 5-1, but Maine-Farmington will rue their early-season loss to Maine-Orono, which essentially negated their 21-20 defeat of Bowdoin October 12.

In Massachusetts it’s crossover time and Tufts and Amherst are happy as they won both of their crossover games. Amherst beat Curry Oct. 19 and Lasell 29-17 Saturday in the consolation bracket. Tufts beat Babson a week ago and then took care of Nichols 29-5 Saturday to win the conference.

Both are set for the NERFU playoffs in two weeks.

And New England College capped off an undefeated run with a 28-0 of Lyndon State in the North.

So that sets up the New England playoffs Nov 8-9:
Tufts v Eastern Conn. State
New England College v Bowdoin

In Tri-State, SUNY Oneonta finished 5-0 after a big victory over Drew.

The Wisconsin/Chicago playoffs finished this weekend with UW-Stevens Point winning it all. Stevens Point defeated Eastern Illinois on Saturday while UW-Parkside beat UW-Eau Claire 46-19. On Sunday, Stevens Point hammered Parkside 60-10 to win WISCARFU.
