MARC Playoff Matchups Set

York College secured the top spot in the MARC Tier II Men’s DII College league with a 60-10 defeat of Bloomsburg.

The Mean ’n’ Green had already edged East Stroudsburg, their closest competition, 25-24 on Oct. 25. The MARC takes three teams from Tier I and one team from its Tier II into the playoffs, so York’s one-point victory over ESU was a cruel blow to East Stroudsburg.

Repeatedly York representatives have decried the playoff system that kept ESU out.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame College beat Drexel 74-7 and Rowan shut out Villanova 65-0 in Tier I. That ensured that Notre Dame finished top in Tier I with a 7-0 record. Rowan secured 2nd (and the #3 seed) with the win on Saturday, moving past 4-2 IUP.

So this coming weekend, York will take on Rowan and Notre Dame will face IUP in the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference semis, with the winners going on to the final.
