DII Men College Latest

Several Men's DII leagues saw their top end clarified after results this past weekend.

In WIsconsin, UW-Whitewater slammed UW-Stout in a game of undefeated teams, with Whitewater taking it 53-5. That made it clear who will be the top dogs in the WIIL North, and they only have to wait for the WIIL South to sort itself out, with Illinois State looking very strong, and Loyola hanging in there. But it could be that Stout is the second-best team in that conference, and might be meeting the Warhawks again in the final in November.

In Minnesota, UM-Duluth remains the leaders in the Northern Lights, and that is unlikely to change. The Fighting Penquins won 100-5 over Bemidji State.

And in the Gateway, undefeated Principia faced undefeated St. Louis, and SLU won big, 68-0. Principia is pieced together with duct tape and paper clips at the moment, but despite their injuries have eked out tight wins throughout the season. This loss hurt them, as they haven't notched many bonus points. They dropped from 2nd to 4th.

In the Great Lakes, Oakland beat Saginaw Valley and are in 1st in the North, while Xavier holds onto 1st in the South.

IUP remains in 1st in the MARC, but that's a big conference and not many teams played this weekend. The one of true note that did was York, which beat the College of New Jersey and now sitsat 3-0, as do Notre Dame College and East Stroudsburg.

It's all pretty clear in the Tri-State, where Fairfield is virtually untouchable, and Vassar is close. RPI recorded a nice win over Siena to keep close to Vassar. In the Central, there's still plenty to play for, but SUNY Oneonta is yet to lose.

In the Potomac, it was, as usual, down to Salisbury v Towson, and this time Towson won, and they lead the conference now.

In another meeting of undefeated teams, Roger Williams beat Salve Regina in the Colonial Coast Conference. Louisiana Tech held steady in a forfeit over Troy in the Deep South. And, as expected, Rhode Island had trouble at Coast Guard, but came away with a victory before their crucial clash with similarly undefeated Vermont in next week's NECRC marquee matchup.
