MEYA BIZER

The USA struggled to play a complete game at the Women’s Rugby World Cup. There were segments when the Eagles were playing to their potential – like the first half against New Zealand during pool play – that abutted periods of underperformance. A rollercoaster ride. But that’s when consistency becomes an even more valuable commodity, and that was Meya Bizer for us.

The Penn State athlete has been in the system for years, and a fantastic video montage of Bizer’s Greatest Hits put the thumper in front of many fans who were otherwise unaware of her existence. And when placed on the international stage – the biggest international stage – Bizer did not back down and consistently planted her shoulders into some of the best rugby players in the world.

For those spectators who hadn’t watched a USA Women’s game until the World Cup, it was Meya Bizer they remembered. The football-groomed collegian was superb at fullback, and on offense she set up her teammates and attacked the open field with vigor. If we had to choose one Eagle who had a standout performance at the World Cup, it was Bizer.
