The Tri-State Conference kicks off in two weeks and we could once again see a new champion.
Two years ago RPI tok the conference, and while the Engineers made the playoffs this year, they weren't as strong and didn't quite pull off the repeat. Last fall, Sacred Heart rolled to a conference title, but, as with many teams, they have had to deal with some turnover.
The University of Vermont is still looking for games.
It was a tough off-season for UVM, as the rest of the NECRC moved to other conferences. In the end, what had been perhaps the most competitive conference in the nation, top to bottom, with Norwich, Rhode Island, Middlebury, and New Hampshire, as well as Vermont, battling it out every week.

Clemson University Head Rugby Coach Steve Lynch announced today that Mickey Bateman has been hired as an Assistant Coach for Clemson University Men’s Rugby Program. Bateman comes to Clemson from Lindenwood University, where he was a four-year starter, two-time 7s National Champion, National MVP and multi-year 7s and 15s All-American.
Marywood University will run a varsity men's and women's rugby program starting in the fall of 2018.
