The USA Men’s rugby 7s team at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China has started 0-2, but they are not out of it yet.

The USA team looked solid against Kenya, leading 12-10 at halftime thanks to tries from Jojo Tikoisuva and Hanco Germishuys, but the Kenyans took control in the second half, scoring twice to win 22-12.

The USA women’s team at the Youth Olympics started the Rugby 7s event at the games 0-1-1 on the first day.

The U.S. Women came close to their first win at the Youth Olympic Games but fell just short, 19-14, to Canada (1-1). The loss moves the Americans to 0-1-1.

The U.S. Women tied Spain 12-12 in the opening round of the Youth Olympic Games. Two Fallbrook High School players - flyhalf Richelle Stephens and wing Michel Navarro - accounted for the tries. In the opening minute, the U.S. surrendered an attacking opportunity when Spain's scrumhalf forced a knock-on in the game's first scrum.

A portfolio of international broadcasters will also televise the action around the globe as Rugby returns to the Olympic arena after 90 years.

August 16 in the USA< August 17 in China, both the USA Men's and Women's youth teams will suit up in six-team tournaments in Nanjing.

On July 1, the women’s team at Life University officially became a varsity program. Big changes lie ahead, not least among them the opportunity to offer more athletic scholarships, but coach Rosalind Chou isn’t rushing the growth of the young program.

Chou is fortunate to have Director of Rugby Dan Payne lending guidance.

The "Battle in the Bay" college 7s tournament will pitch-up for its second year October 25-26 at Treasure Island in San Francisco, and will do so with an impressive lineup of teams.

Arizona, Oregon, University of British Columbia, University of Utah, and University of Washington all show up this year and fill out the field to 16.

There’s so much rugby going on right now, and this Sunday, three USA women’s teams will be competing in, or preparing for, international competitions: Senior national team plays for 5th in the world against New Zealand; Junior All Americans convene in Buffalo in advance of the Can-Am series; and the U.S. Youth Olympic Team will kick off its 7s campaign in China.

The game didn't start in the USA's favor. Two minutes into the Women's Rugby World Cup 5th place semifinal, Australia captain Shannon Parry dotted down a try that Ashleigh Hewson converted. But the Americans were resolute and used every remaining second to claw their way back on top, and the go-ahead points happened in the 79th minute.

As the USA finishes its Women's Rugby World Cup campaign in France this Sunday, the next generation of potential Eagles will begin its high-performance journey with the Women's Junior All Americans (WJAA). The high schoolers and collegians will converge on Buffalo, N.Y., on Aug. 17 before heading to Ontario for the two-game Can-Am Series against the Canada U20s.

The USA Men's rugby 7s team at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China are in-country and ready to go. After a camp in San Francisco, the squad is looking to start off smartly against a tough Kenyan team. In the Youth Olympic Games, every country can send only one men's team and one women's team for team sports.

Colorado State University’s Men’s Rugby Club has announced a player camp in conjunction with the Canterbury Rugby Football Union (CRFU) of New Zealand.

The camp will involve CRFU coach Tabai Matson running the camp at CSU on the weekend of September 19-21. Matson is the current backs and assistant coach with the Canterbury Crusaders Super 15 team.

In addition to tapping some of the country’s top high schools, head coach Rebecca Carlson has extended her reach not only to other sports but also to other countries. “We are looking forward to the largest and most talented class we have ever had,” Carlson said.
