World Rugby has confirmed the schedule for the Americas Pacific Challenge 2016, a new "A” team tournament funded by the game's governing body.

The inaugural event, which includes two teams each from the Pacific Islands, North America and South America, will be hosted in Montevideo, Uruguay, from 8-16 October, 2016.

LAFAYETTE, Colo. – World Rugby has expanded its World Rugby Council - the sport's governing body's governance assembly of nations - and it was announced today that the USA, Georgia, and Romania now have a seat at the table.

Most of the changes this year as minor and won’t affect players all very much.

World Rugby has unveiled its new international rankings for women's rugby.

Having run rankings for men's international 15s for years, the international governing body has decided to rank women's national 15s teams, too.

World Rugby expanded the 2015-2016 HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series to five tournaments once more, assing a fifth and final stop at Clermont-Ferrand in France on May 28-29.

The late-May stop will be the final test for each nation’s qualifying women’s sevens team before they head to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
