Goff Rugby Report caught up with USA High School All American Head Coach Salty Thompson and Assistant Michael Engelbrecht, who also works with the U20s, as they scouted at the Rocky Mountain Challenge.
The Boys HS All Americans are getting set to kick off U18 European Championships Friday in Brittany, France.
Head Coach Salty Thompson has named a HS All Americans squad to play at the Men's U18 European Championships in April.
The team will compete in games April 7, 11, and 16 in Brittany, France. On April 7 they will take on the Portugal U18s, and then the teams move on to semis, and finals. Also participating will be Japan, Belgium, Canada, Georgia, France, and Spain.
Eagle Impact Rugby Academy will bring 36 rugby players to Las Vegas to compete in two brackets in the Las Vegas Invitational.
Two EIRA teams will compete in the Boys Elite HS bracket, while a U16 development side will be in the Boys Open.
Eagle Impact Rugby Academy has announced that it has brought on Brendan Keane full-time to serve as Associate Director alongside Director Salty Thompson.
Keane has been working for several years with the EIRA program in various capacities, kick-starting the Carolinas chapter while he was a teacher and rugby coach at Charlotte Catholic HS, and then coaching the EIRA U16s and U17s.

With nice, mild weather and a large team of coaches working under Salty Thompson, the players were all getting a rundown of the team system and a chance to show why they deserve a look for the HSAA assemblies in 2017, including two expected tours to Canada and the LVI.
This year’s HS All American camp is an interesting one in that some slots have opened up.
HSAA Campers Named
With a large chunk of the HSAA returners tagged for the U19 team to play Canada’s U19s at the end of the month.
Boys HS All Americans Head Coach Salty Thompson has named the players who are set to attend the Winter Camp in Case Grande, Ariz.
The camp will start on December 27 and end December 31. The players were chosen through scouting at the Regional Cup Tournaments over the summer, and through other scouting avenues.
The Eagle Impact Rugby Academy program has confirmed a series of competitive assemblies for 2017.
While EIRA exists as academies around the country helping committed players elevate their skills, more and more we are seeing EIRA teams compete in 7s tournaments and on 15s tours. This coming year, we'll see that happen again.
The Boys High School All Americans put the Ontario Blues U19 provincial select side to the sword Saturday with a convincing 38-5 result at Appleby College in Oakville, Ont.
