It’s taken a little time for it all to sink in for St. Ignatius, as it was third-time’s-the-charm for the Ohio team in their quest to beat St. Edward and a win a state championship.
St. Ignatius have won Rugby Ohio's Boys DI HS championship, defeating St. Edward 12-5 in the final.
St Edward followed up their Midwest single-school championship with a 31-17 defeat of St. Ignatius in a key Rugby Ohio league game.
St. Ignatius out of Ohio finally got on the field this past weekend and defeated a challenging Archbishop Moeller school 57-5.
Ohio’s St. Edward school team is in Portugal at a youth rugby festival and has been busy in the opening days.
They lost two close games against Henley of England, 7-3, and 8-0, and also lost 8-0 to Biarritz, the tournament’s defending champions.
Then Portuguese team Beleneses shut out St. Edward 12-0, but the Ohio team bounced back to defeat Cascais 19-0.
