Men DII College News
It was a big shakeup in the Southern Rugby Conference with #1-ranked Furman getting unseated by UNC-Charlotte.
The Gateway Conference has shown itself to be pretty deep and competitive at the top end, despite some issues for some teams in getting enough players (or coaches) after the COVID shutdowns.
Still, we've got a playoff set up after this weekend's slate.
Marquette kept up their winning ways with a comprehensive defeat of UW-Milwaukee (59-12) to finish the regular season 4-0.
Also winning were Northern Iowa, 55-16 over Loyola, Northwestern 43-0 over Illinois-Chicago, and UW-Whitewater, 43-0 over Northern Michigan.
The Men's DII playoffs loom and with as many as 12 conferences involved it's going to be a big chance to see who gets in.
Expect the conference champions, of course, to have a place, and we'll see some #2 teams from the strongest conferences—Great Midwest, NEWCRC, Southern—fight for a spot, too.
Another week, another slate of Pick’Em games! Congratulations to Scott Nies who has now been our top player on consecutive weeks and Kaleb Boleyn who leads our season standings.
Goff Rugby Report's picks were a little hit-and-miss last week, so let's see if the GRR brain trust can do better this time.
