Vancouver 7s Sell 60% of Tickets in 24 Hours

Despite early technical challenges yesterday morning that impacted the 2017 HSBC Canada Sevens Early-Bird on-sale launch, the HSBC Canada Sevens Organizing Committee has confirmed more than 60% of total tickets were sold in the first 24 hours; more than doubling their Early Bird sales from this time last year.

Yesterday morning, as Early Bird tickets were set to be released, the HSBC Canada Sevens ticket-service provider experienced some technical difficulties which caused a delay in the launch of the online Early Bird pre-sale. HSBC Canada Sevens staff worked with ticketmaster® to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.  The Sevens staff continue to work with the Early Bird registrants who experienced challenges, and encourage those who need support to contact info@canadasevens.com for further assistance.

“While we are thrilled to see such incredible interest for the 2017 tournament, we are also well aware of the challenges our fans experienced yesterday,” said Bill Cooper, CEO, HSBC Canada Sevens. “We are hugely appreciative of our fans’ continued support and are highly committed to mitigating and avoiding such scenarios from repeating themselves in the future.  This tournament is very much a fan-first event – and this incredible demand for tickets in only our second year is a testament to the momentum that continues to build around this exceptional weekend of rugby and celebration. We’ll be rolling up our sleeves even further in the coming weeks to ensure we have the ingredients in place for everyone to have a first class experience.”

As of today, limited availability for the 2017 HSBC Canada Sevens remains in various “reserved” and premium seating categories, with the majority of availability remaining in General Admission, which make up the largest sections of seating at BC Place. General Admission remains a favoured category of seating at all stops around the world on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, allowing fans to enjoy the “festival-like” atmosphere of the Sevens tournaments.  Early Bird ticket sales will continue until 9:59 am, September 20th, at which point ticket sales will be released to the general public. HSBCCanada Sevens will update on remaining ticket inventory in advance of public on-sale that begins on September 20, 2016 at 10:00am PT.
