UCLA, Utah Win in PAC

UCLA remains atop the PAC Rugby Conference after a pretty straightforward 82-5 defeat of Oregon State.

Utah kept pace with the Bruins by beating Arizona State 31-10. It was a physical, hard-nosed game between the Utes and the Sun Devils, but Utah showed much improved defensive structure. Offensively they had trouble finishing off attacking chances.

"We left an unacceptable number of points on the field with unforced errors," said Utah Coach Jon Law. "Overall it was an unsatisfying outing but filled with great moments."

Arizona State Head Coach Gary Lane's team is now 0-2, which is a little frustrating for them.

"It was a better performance by us," said Lane, whose team was down only 7-0 at halftime on a try from an ASU error on a missed kick. "It was evenly-matched game. We had several opportunities to score and unfortunately it was either knocked on or we just didn't quite make the tryline."

Cal is yet to start playing conference games, and the defending champion Bears should do just fine, but it's a competitive and difficult-to-predict conference aside from that.
