The big clash in Northern California Boys HS rugby saw nothing settled.

Longtime rivals Danville and Granite Bay played to a 26-26 tie Saturday.

It was a well-attended game with plenty of physicality. Granite Bay expected to win this game and came away disappointed.

"Danville took it to us and minimized their mistakes," said Granite Bay Head Coach Chris Miller. His Grizzlies, on the other hand, didn't bring the right level of energy against a tough opponent.

"It was a competitive, physical, back and forth match," added Danville Head Coach Kort Schubert. "We prepared well and showed up strong against a well-coached, highly-skilled Granite Bay side."

Fun fact: Miller and Schubert played together at Cal.

Danville brought plenty of grit and intensity and they will need it going forward. For Granite Bay?

"Our boys will learn from this and understand that no opponent in NorCals Premier should be taken lightly," said Miller.
