Tennessee HS Playoffs!

The Tennessee state playoffs are ready to kick off now that the West Tennessee Conference has completed its playoffs.

It was a very tight semifinal-finals series among the Memphis-area teams. Power Center defeated Freedom Prep Academy 14-0, while Christian Brothers Academy held off Germantown 19-15. It was a tough, hard-nosed effort from Germantown, and in the end took too much out of them, as they fell convincingly to Freedom Prep on Sunday in the 3rd/4th game.

Christian Brothers then won another close one, 24-17 over PCA to win the conference.

CBA was led by a strong offensive and defensive effort from flanker Sean Ramsey. Tighthead prop Eduardo Coronado continued to make plays in and around the breakdown, clearing out for the likes of fullback Adam Harknett and outside center Jonah Blancett to attack.

Christian Brothers Head Coach Justin Whitmer said those four were "huge difference-makers" in a game and a weekend where small differences mattered.

"For our Conference, the top four could have gone any direction based on anything, including a penalty," said Whitmer. "Memphis Inner City has really stepped up and made the conference a lot more competitive.

So this coming weekend the Tennessee playoffs begin. SMAC winners Bearden face off with Middle Tennessee top team Harpeth, while CBA takes on Ravenwood. Tennessee will also have a Bowl Round, with McMinn County facing Oakland and PCA playing Sumner County.

The Boys Plate playoff will include South Doyle and Rutherford County.

The McMinn County Tribe Girls will take on Columbia in the state cup semis, while Soulsville, the top West Tenn. team, faces Ravenwood in the other semi.
