NorCal Boys Playoffs This Weekend

De La Salle is in the DII semis. Michael Geib photo.

It's already playoff time in Northern California - boy that was fast - with five boys HS championships to be decided, plus a few other consolation rounds.

All of the teams playing in semifinals will play those semis on the weekend of April 9. The championships will then be held April 16 or 17.

Here are the matchups:

West Point Camp

Boys Varsity Premier

Danville v Archbishop Riordan

Jesuit v Granite Bay

While Riordan is a pretty tough team that has worked hard in a difficult division, Danville should have little problem in that game. Meanwhile, Jesuit v Granite Bay will be a huge tussle for both teams. The result between the two back in February was 19-17 for Jesuit. You know both teams have improved since then. Granite Bay has been resting up a little for this one. Jesuit just beat Kent out of Washington by about 70.

Boys JV Premier

Danville v Lamorinda

Jesuit v Granite Bay

So it's a Jesuit/GB doubleheader. Got to love that. They met in February and Jesuit won 43-30. Danville shut out Lamo in their previous meeting. Danville's JV team has been pretty solid all season.

Boys DI

Peninsula Green v Sierra Foothills

CK McClatchy v SFGG

Both Peninsula Green and CK McClatchy have been playing at a pretty high level, and went into late games against their main rivals and won big. In fact, Pen Green had three tough games in three straight weeks and won them all by roughly the same score (average 37-15). McClatchy took it to Seirra Foothills last week. That was a wakeup call for everyone else.

Boys DI Plate

North Bay v Sacramento PAL

Christian Brothers v Los Gatos

Boys DII

Cougars v Berkeley

Bishop O'Dowd v De La Salle

De La Salle got a bye into this round thanks to having the best record. So while the other three were playing, and winning, playoff games, DLS was in the Seattle area and beat Seattle Vikins on tour. None of the other three teams won its game by big margins. They will have had to work for it, and that's a good thing. This field is wide open.

Boys Open Varsity

Jesuit B v Vacaville

Sac Eagles v Mother Lode

This is a wild mix of teams and you've got to think Jesuit B will prevail. Jesuit's program is just too deep.

Boys Open JV Cup

Peninsula Green v Clayton Valley

CK McClatchy v Napa

Boys Open JV Plate

Sierra Foothills v SFGG

Sac Eagles v Mother Lode

Boys Open JV Bowl Match

Elk Grove v Elsie Allen to be plays April 16
