Men's College Finals Latest

Here's the latest from the Men's College Finals, with DIA, DIAA, and Varsity Cup champions being decided today.

UC Davis defeated a capable Notre Dame College side in a wet, contention DIAA final 17-13 Saturday.

Davis fell behind 8-0 and scored a try right at the end of the first half to make it 8-7. Davis took the lead 12-8 before NDC regained the lead, only to see Davis score late and hold on with some superb defense.

Lock forward Ian McCarthy was named the UC Davis MVP as he was hugely influential not only in the set piece but in open play. NDC flyhalf Logan Weinstock was very shifty in open play. Davis center nd captain Josh Farnsworth, was also excellent in a hard-hitting affair.

Cal came back from a 29-19 deficit to defeat BYU 40-29 in what has to be considered an upset to win the Varsity Cup final.

Tries from Anthony Salaber, and two from scrumhalf Nik Boyer turned the game around as those three tries were scored in the final ten minutes.

And behind a brilliant performance from center Harley Davidson, Life was ferocious in contact and came back form a 15-3 deficit to beat Saint Mary's 24-20 in the DIA final.

It was a bit of a shock result, and the game went back and forth, but a late try from prop Alex Maughan saw Life through, and the Running Eagles' defense held in the final minutes.
