Manoa to Toulon Next Season

Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal has confirmed that his club has signed Northampton Saints and USA star Samu Manoa to a four-year contract.

Several news outlets in Europe have reported the signing, which notable in that Manoa is in the middle of his final year at Northampton, and because of the length of the contract. Rugby teams rarely sign players to contracts as long as four years, and, in fact, Boudjellal reportedly said Manoa was the firt player he had signed for four years.

In a post-match interview, Boudjellal said "he will become the star of the Top 14. He is a rugby phenomenon, made for Mayol. He is a player we spotted a few months ago. We contacted him and his agent said he had been approached by all the clubs in the Top 14 and England and that the only offer he could take was that of Toulon."

Terms weren't announced, but Manoa, hugely desired around Europe, didn't come cheap.
