Life University Men’s Rugby has announced their incoming freshman of 12 players.

Daniel Castagna - Clarksville, TN
Edward Dennett-Smith - Marietta, GA
Carter Hunchik - Richardson, TX
Maciu Koroi - Sacramento, CA
Griffin Kraemer - West Chester, OH
Philip Laurence - Delray Beach, FL
Quadarius Miller - Rivera Beach, FL
Donovan Norphlet - Memphis, TN
Jason Paul, Jr. - Brookshire, TX
Daemon Torres - Round Rock, TX
Brandon Wahle - Plano, TX
Terrance Williams - Acworth, GA

The program has expressed a definite interest in cultivating talent from the South, especially Life’s home state of Georgia, and certainly the list of players - ten out of 12 are from the South - bears that out. On Life Rugby’s website, Head Coach Tui Osborne said “we think long term here at Life U. The wins and losses come and go.  Our larger goal is to use the sport of rugby to develop young men and women for success beyond college and beyond the rugby pitch."

The additions of Castagna, Dennett-Smith, Griffin, and Hunchik are designed to bolster a relatively small forward pack. and perhaps provide a better platform for what is expected to be a strong backline.

"We have a plan for each player we bring in each year,” said Osborne.

The Life undergraduate team will be eased into things carefully. They are slated to play Clemson in October, but most of the fall games are expected to be just for JVs, giving these young players a chance to get their rugby feet wet.
