Georgia Latest - Two Unbeatens Left

Roswell and Lassiter players post post-match with former All Black Gordon MacPherson.

Georgia now has only two unbeaten teams after Alpharetta Phoenix "A" soundly beat previously undefeated Mill Creek 41-7 on Friday night. Mill Creek, with a huge pack, trailed only 15-7 at halftime, but really had no answer to a very talented and disciplined Phoenix team led by loose forwards Malik Williams and Bennett Erickson. Phoenix veteran Joe Lynch grabbed a brace of tries for the forwards while the Phoenix backs accounted for the other five Phoenix tries. Next up for both teams is the Ruggerfest tournament in Charlotte next weekend.

Meanwhile, the Lassiter Trojans made a statement of their own. After a slow start due to weather and field cancelations, the Trojans didn't need a fake horse to hit the ground running as they exploded for a 63-10 win over Roswell. The Trojans were very impressive by putting multiple phases together and dominated at the breakdown. Kyle Munsey opened the scoring for the Trojans with a try in the corner. The floodgates opened with Collin Cooper scoring twice and Shane O’Hanlon turning heads with three tries and nine conversions for 33 points all on his own.

Roswell tried to stop the bleeding by slotting over a long range penalty by Andrew Pretorius, but the Trojans' replies were quick. Munsey, Gouin, Inglis, and Chambers all scored after that kick.  Roswell kept on fighting and never gave up and was rewarded with a try by Malik Brakache. The teams got a special treat as after the match  the teams were brought together to meet and get a picture with former All Black Gordon MacPherson, who was visiting Atlanta on business (see above)

Lambert recorded their first win of the season with a strong 57-20 defeat of Walton with fullback Gavin Conley running in four tries on the night. Phoenix "B" and Norsemen were idle.
