Gamebreakers This Week in Men's D1 College

Antonio Esteves for Brown University.

We try to avoid in our Gamebreakers column to list just flyhalves and No. 8s, but sometimes you can't really avoid it.

This week's listing of the top DIA, NCR D1, and DIAA players this week includes several No. 8s because ... well sometimes that's just how it is.

Aaron Juma, Wheeling University

Juma scored two tries and was a continued danger with the ball in hand as Wheeling beat Iowa Central CC. For his performance he won the Wheeling Athletics Men’s High Flyer Award, given to the top athlete of the week in any sport at the school.

Brooks Tate, Arkansas

The Razorbacks prop led from the front as Arkansas edged Kansas State.

Jake Hudak, Bowling Green

The BGSU No. 8 led the team in turnovers created and was a massive ground-gainer for his side as they beat Western Michigan.

Rafael O’Gorman, Thomas More

The Saints center scored two tries and kicked nine points as Thomas More defeated Big Rivers conference Adrian.

Gavin James, Kentucky

The Wildcats center scored two tries as UK beat South Carolina 39-24.

Tommy Smith, University of Notre Dame

Playing lock for the Irish, Smith scored a huge, impressive, rumbling try and did a lot of the unsung work in the breakdown and on defense as the Fighting Irish beat Michigan State.

Matthew Beacom, Tennessee

Strong defense, several big, ground-gaining runs, and two tries from this Vols No. 8 led his side past Alabama.

Jack McMahon, Navy

Unleashing a series of thundering runs and hitting rucks throughout, the Navy flanker helped lead the Midshipmen over Notre Dame College.

Kian McKeever, Iona

The Gaels’ tighthead prop led from the front and was a powerful running driving through contact as Iona beat Clemson.

Sam Chura, Cincinnati

Stepping in at center for the injured Danny Moran, the UC freshman scored three tries in a key win over IUPUI.

Antonio Esteves, Brown

Playing No. 8 for Brown, Esteves was a huge weapon for his side in a shutout win over Fordham, scoring five tries.

Andru Gonzales, Rowan

The Rowan center was the best back for his side as they edged Delaware 36-34.

Quinn Murray, Adrian

A dynamic fullback with pace and skill Murray made several key plays to keep Adrian close in a loss to Thomas More.

Christopher Siegert, Boston College

The Eagles front-rower scored three tries, all off mauls, in BC’s win over UConn.
